Philippa Levitt's JUSTICE. JUST ICE. JUST ICING.
1st April 2009
Philippa Levitt's first solo exhibition this year, JUSTICE. JUST ICE. JUST ICING on the 1st April 2009.
Philippa Levitt's first solo exhibition this year, JUSTICE. JUST ICE. JUST ICING represents a key milestone for the artist. Coming to visual art after a career in law, this is the first time that any of Levitt's work has been shown on a public platform, and comes at an ideal time for Johannesburgers, as attention is focused strongly on the visual arts during the period of the second Johannesburg Art Fair. The show opens on the 1st April 2009.
Renovations for the Art Warehouse have begun as we plan to launch around May this year. We are also working on the launch of our venue hire services for both the Rosebank and Fairland spaces. Ideal for small gatherings, parties, meeting, seminars and mini conferences, both spaces are equipped with plasma screens and offer an idea small venue solution.
March saw some great social activity taking place at Artspace. Having established themselves with their unique array of wine, Creation wines held an exclusive wine tasting at the gallery on the 18th March 2009. The event was followed by a walkabout by artist Happy Dhlame, and guests responded enthusiastically to his insights about his work.
As usual, our calendar this year is full of new works by artists, designers and jewellery designers. Upcoming exhibitions include Jaco Sieberhagen, Karen Preller and our dynamic group show in May, Walking the line, featuring printmaking and drawing.
Watch this space also for developments in our Mentorship Programme which will take place at the gallery in October this year.
The show runs until the 1 May 2009,
Artspace is open from 10h00-17h30 Tuesday - Friday, 10h00- 15h30 on Saturdays.
